Magnolia Sustainable Experiences took center stage at the 16th session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16) in Riyadh, as our delegate, Dang Thanh Ha, joined global leaders to present her project Magnolia Sustainable Experiences Social Enterprise during the “Gender Equality and Social Inclusion” session, spotlighting how women, youth, and marginalized groups contribute to land restoration and sharing strategies for fostering inclusivity.
Championing Financial Resilience for Vietnam
A highlight of the conference was the discussion on innovative financial tools, including market-driven solutions like insurance and microfinance, which are critical for mitigating climate risks. Magnolia Sustainable Experiences is committed to exploring how these tools can be adapted for Vietnam’s rural and agricultural sectors.
Ha shared insights on the potential of integrating financial resilience into Vietnam’s sustainability framework. Drawing inspiration from UNDP’s success in India—where insurance coverage was extended to 42 million farmers—she advocated for similar scalable solutions to empower Vietnam’s smallholder farmers.
Magnolia’s Vision for a Resilient Future
As the global community looks ahead to COP17 in Mongolia, Magnolia Sustainable Experiences is more determined than ever to lead by example. Our mission is clear: to combine sustainable tourism with actionable solutions that empower communities, protect ecosystems, and foster resilience against climate challenges.
Dang Thanh Ha’s participation at COP16 is a testament to Magnolia’s role as a catalyst for change. By bridging local knowledge with global frameworks, we aim to inspire a movement where sustainability is not just a goal but a way of life.
Mobilizing Resources for Local Impact
The 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is a major international event where Member States, environmental organizations, and stakeholders come together to discuss global efforts to combat desertification and land degradation. COP16 united leaders from governments, the private sector, civil society, and global stakeholders to accelerate progress in sustainable land management. The agenda spotlighted several transformative initiatives aimed at combating the challenges of desertification, land degradation, and drought. Among them:
Riyadh Global Drought Resilience Partnership (RGDRP): $2.15 billion pledged to strengthen drought resilience.
Arab Coordination Group Commitment: $10 billion allocated by 2030 to combat DLDD.
Global Takaful Alliance: Enhancing financial protection for 100 million people by 2030 through inclusive Islamic insurance.
Groundwater Access Facility for Africa: A $2 billion initiative addressing water scarcity in vulnerable regions.
Youth Innovation for Sustainability: Supporting young leaders with scalable solutions for land restoration.
These initiatives collectively underline the importance of mobilizing resources to create tangible, local impacts. Magnolia’s focus aligns closely with these efforts. Ha emphasized that sustainable tourism can serve as a bridge to channel these resources into local communities, ensuring that they are empowered to adapt and thrive in the face of environmental challenges.
Magnolia Sustainable Experiences is proud to contribute to global efforts for a sustainable future. Together, we can make a difference by empowering communities, protecting our environment, and ensuring resilience against climate challenges. Join us as we continue to innovate and advocate for meaningful change.
